This past weekend we took a very short trip to Scotland. I loved it there, and didn't want to leave.
First, we landed in Edinburgh, which is a fantastic and beautiful city. We checked into our hostel, and I met up with my friend Duncan, who I have known since high school. Duncan took me and the girls on a small tour of the city, showing us some really neat sites.
Pictures (kind of crappy quality for these ones...taken on my phone):
We didn't get to see much more of Edinburgh, because the next morning we woke up super early to make a train taking us to Inverness. The train ride was beautiful and relaxing. It took us on a long journey across the country, but was very much worth it. Inverness is famous for the Scottish Highlands and Loch Ness.
Although we didn't have enough daylight time to see the Scottish Highlands, we did get to visit the non-touristy part of Loch Ness, and it was awesomely beautiful. I was actually taken aback to how beautiful it actually was. We ate in a tiny restaurant next to the Loch (literally the only building there). Sadly, we left the next morning on a train back to Edinburgh where we caught our flight home to Ireland...but not before we got to see a little bit of the Irish nature on an early morning hike.

It was a short trip, but I really enjoyed what I did see, and I would love to return someday. It was lovely.
