Yes, yes of course. Most of the miscommunications come from slang. A lot of the American slang is different than the slang here in Ireland, and vice versa. I don't really have a funny story about miscommunication, but I will say, that I have had some issues with particular accents from different parts of Ireland. Some of the heavier Irish accents are hard to understand, which usually results in laughs when I ask them to repeat themselves.
b) Explain a favorite new word or phrase you have learned.
"Whats the craic!?" or "Lets have some craic!"
Craic is Gaelic for fun. Pronounced: crack.
